Useful links to databases

The Structural Genomics Consortium (SGC) Structural Database
A database that gives access to structural information on several newly-characterized PARP proteins.
SGC is a not-for-profit organization that aims to determine the three dimensional structures of proteins of medical relevance, and place them in the public domain without restriction.

Database on the locations of mouse DNA damage response and repair loci, and cancer risk modifiers available at from the Health Protection Agency, Chilton, UK

"[
This] electronically accessible database compares the locations of mouse genes involved in DNA repair, apoptosis, cell cycle and signal transduction with those of known cancer risk modifier genes. The database has a primary but not exclusive focus on modifiers of ionizing radiation (IR) cancer risk and genes involved in IR-induced DNA damage responses. The database provides a useful tool for assessing the role of DNA damage response genes in cancer predisposition.

Mouse Mutation Database v7
available at the Universityof Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, USA

A database of mouse strains carrying targeted mutations in genes affecting biological responses to DNA damage.
Note that the version 7 has been presented in DNA repair 5 (2006) 189-209 but is not yet on line. The Mouse Mutation Database V5 is on lie, instead.

Mice Knockout & Mutation Database available at BioMedNet (free registration)

The Mouse Knockout & Mutation Database (MKMD) is BioMedNet's fully searchable database of phenotypic information related to knockout and classical mutations in mice.
MKMD has now closed. Discussions are in progress with a number of parties interested in hosting MKMD.

The Transgenic and Targeted Mutant Animal Database

TBASE is an attempt to organize information on transgenic animals and targeted mutations generated and analyzed worldwide. All The 824 total records are available through TBASE at Johns Hopkins University

The Pfam database of protein domains and HMMs

Pfam is a large collection of multiple sequence alignments and hidden Markov models covering many common protein domains. Version 7.0 of Pfam (February 2002) contains alignments and models for 3360 protein families, based on the Swissprot 39 and SP-TrEMBL 14 protein sequence databases

The Nucleolar Protein Database

This database on nucleolar proteins from the Lamond's Lab (Dundde, UK) can be searched by name, category or gel mobility and size
